چکیده

Optical turbulence, which develops in the transverse directions when a laser beam propagates through a medium, is considered in the framework of the two-dimensional Schrodinger equation with a weak cubic nonlinearity. This classical model of optical turbulence was studied by many authors, but stationary (Kolmogorov) spectra that transfer transverse energy of the waves from large spatial scales to small ones have not been found until now. Such spectra are given below. Non-stationary optical turbulence which evolution results in formation of a Kolmogorov spectrum is described as well. In addition to this, evolution of free optical turbulence is considered.

A model of laminated wave turbulence

A model of laminated wave turbulence is presented. This model consists of two co-existing layers one with continuous waves’ spectra, covered by KAM theory and Kolmogorov-like power spectra, and one with discrete waves’ spectra, covered by discrete classes of waves and Clipping method. Some known laboratory experiments and numerical simulations are explained in the frame of this model. PACS: 47....

Gravity, Turbulence, and Star Formation

The azimuthal power spectra of optical emission from star formation and dust in spiral galaxies resembles the azimuthal power spectra of HI emission from the LMC. These and other power spectra of whole galaxies all resemble that of velocity in incompressible Kolmogorov turbulence. The reasons for this are unknown but it could be simply that star and cloud formation are the result of a mixture o...

The viscous-convective subrange in nonstationary turbulence

The similarity form of the scalar-variance spectrum at high Schmidt numbers is investigated for nonstationary turbulence. Theoretical arguments show that Batchelor scaling may apply only at high Reynolds numbers. At low Reynolds numbers, Batchlor scaling is not possible unless the turbulence is stationary or the enstrophy decays asymptotically as t. When this latter condition is satisfied, it i...

A model of laminated weak turbulence

A model of laminated weak turbulence (WT) is presented. This model consists of two co-existing layers one with continuous spectra, covered by Kolmogorov ́s theory and KAM tori, and one with discrete spectra, covered by discrete classes of waves and Clipping method. Some known laboratory experiments and numerical simulations are explained in the frame of this model. A few problems which might app...

Kolmogorov spectra of weak turbulence in media with two types of interacting waves

A system of one-dimensional equations describing media with two types of interacting waves is considered. This system can be viewed as an alternative to the model introduced by Majda, McLaughlin and Tabak in 1997 for assessing the validity of weak turbulence theory. The predicted Kolmogorov solutions are the same in both models. The main difference between both models is that coherent structure...
